Scotway House, Glasgow Harbour

Strathclyde Building Preservation Trust have recently completed a feasibility study assessing the suitability of Scotway House for Scotland's newest national music attraction and to develop a scheme which is acceptable to the funders. SBPT have been working closely with a private consortium called Hall of Fame Scotland Ltd (HOF) who have a innovative vision for giving Scotland a premier musical education facility. This recent newspaper article gives a flavour of their ambition.

Scotway House

The HOF Scotland aspiration ties in with the designation of Glasgow as a UNESCO City of Music. From this visionary idea, HOF have been searching for a building which they believe is locationally and physically fitting to what they want to achieve.  Scotway House is where they see that Vision being realised. They have chosen a building which is prominent in its setting and they want to be able to add an inspirational design and reinvigorate the building in keeping with the exciting new venture and the historic significance of Scotway House.

SBPT have worked closely with a project team comprising of Page and Park Architects, NBM cost consultants, Burro Happold Engineers and Studio Arc design consultants.  The team prepared three outline scheme options which incorporate the  HoF Vision on an increasing scale of intervention and cost.

The Feasibility Study was completed in July 2011 and the report has been circulated to collaborators.  A summary version will be available on this site shortly.
