Current Projects
Kilmory Home Farm
is owned by Argyll & Bute Council and is adjacent to their headquarters building at Kilmory Castle in Lochgilphead. The building has been unused for about 15 years and is now in a near derelict state. A fire in late December 2008 did nothing to help this situation and the Council is understandably nervous about the condition of the building and public safety in its vicinity.

The Kilmory Home Farm Community Project is a local group set up
with a view to saving the buildings and using them as a hub for a
‘centre for sustainable living’. The Community Project worked
alongside SBPT to deliver an Options Appraisal funded by the
Architectural Heritage Fund and Argyll & Bute Council. The
appraisal was delivered in July 2008 and indicated that the Community
Project could be both viable in use and could attract capital funding.
The appraisal recommended a period of up to 18 months during which the
scheme would be developed by the Community Project, the Council and
SBPT (with support from other collaborators). The aims were to deliver
a robust business plan and a fully funded proposal. The Community
Project have been working to get the development process off the ground
and an update on progress is expected soon.
